The soul of Italy arrived in Orleans when renowned Chef Vito DiBrizzi opened the doors to Cucina da Vito, his authentic Italian restaurant. A master of traditional recipes and heartfelt hospitality, Chef Vito brought with him the rich flavors and time-honored techniques from his homeland. His vision was simple: to create a place where people could experience true Italian cuisine, just as it’s made in the kitchens of Naples, Florence, and Sicily.
Over time, the legacy of Chef Vito passed into the hands of another passionate culinary artist — Chef Joe, a seasoned expert with over 25 years of experience in the Italian kitchen. After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Chef Joe began his career in Turin, Italy, where he honed his craft in some of the city’s most respected restaurants and luxury hotels. There, he developed a deep respect for regional ingredients, refined techniques, and the emotional connection between food and family.
since Oct.2024 Chef Joe has been proudly leading the kitchen at Cucina da Vito, continues to honor the traditions started by Chef Vito, while bringing his own creative flair and years of international experience to every plate. From handmade pasta and slow-simmered sauces to decadent desserts, each dish tells a story — one of heritage, passion, and the enduring magic of Italian cuisine.
We have been here a few times and it never disappoints. I would say it’s one of the best Italian restaurants in the Ottawa region. The staff are always so welcoming and the atmosphere is great. We have tried the tortellini alla panna which was delicious, we have also tried the pappardelle al porcini. We have also tried a few other things that were on special.
We went on a Saturday evening for dinner in November and still think about it. Everything was excellent front service to food to ambiance. We enjoyed a bottle of Pinot. He had the Fruitti de Mare and I had the special pasta du jour (name I can't recall). Mine was cooked perfectly and had a creamy sauce. He savoured every bite of his seafood pasta. We began with the evening with Anti Rustico and all was fresh and delicious. Fresh hot bread and dipping oil was provided as well. We had no room left for dessert which I'm sure would have been heavenly. The total for all was $175.00...a memorable treat. Well be returning soon.
